1 Southern Cross Road, Rangiora 7400

North Canterbury Neighbourhood Support is part of a network of local groups & partners . Our common purpose is to create safe and caring neighbourhoods and communities, reducing the incidences and effects of criminal offending, building community resilience and strengthening community networks to improve the quality of life and enhance well being.

We work to connect communities in Waimakariri, Hurunui and Kaikoura.

GetsReady is our membership register and a tool used in Canterbury to register members of Neighbourhood Support. In the event of an emergency, your neighbours are your first line of support and this is a great tool to connect neighbours to be able to support each other.

Members can register on their own to receive official information from Council, Civil Defence and Police. Members are also then able to create their own "street groups" and develop their own "Emergency Plan" working together to combine skills and resources and identify any key needs of neighbours in your group.

Working closely with the Police and many other organisations in our community, we promote and support the development of Neighbourhood Support groups throughout our district.

Why join a Neighbourhood Support group?

There's strength in numbers. A Neighbourhood Support group brings local people together to share information, ideas and connectedness. Together, you can assist one another to:

  • Solve local problems

  • Reduce crime

  • Minimise anti-social behaviour

  • Support victims of crime

  • Learn to prepare and cope with civil defence emergencies

  • Engage Police, other emergency services or support agencies

  • Liaise and co-operate with other like-minded community groups

Creating safe, resilient, and connected communities.
