About
Neighbourhood Support Tāmaki Makaurau’s purpose is to create safe, resilient and connected communities throughout all of Auckland Central. We do this by working closely with our strategic partners; NZ Police, FENZ, AEM and Auckland Council.
Our aim is to see our neighbourhoods connected and communicating effectively. When neighbours know each other and have the means to communicate well, crime has been shown to decrease, the overall resilience of the community increases and people feel safer knowing they have people they can count on in times of emergencies. Our area can be described by the three main policing districts: Waitematā, Central and Counties. Within this area we have 21 Local Boards, covering from the South; Franklin and all the way up to the North; Rodney. Each area is unique and diverse, therefore it is imperative that our grassroots mahi is centered around local communities to further enhance where we live, work and socialise.

Meet the Team
Rebecca Smith
Community Advisor
Rebecca's position allows her to oversee, in an advisory role, all of Tāmaki Makaurau. This gives our Coordinators and volunteer Committees someone on the ground in Auckland. Rebecca is available to attend meetings and support existing committees and help with establishing areas that would like to stand up new Neighborhood Support groups.
In addition to this, a key focus is to support Auckland Central. Whilst we don't currently have a dedicated Coordinator in this area, we are looking to expand and grow our connections, so there is much going on in the community to support this space. Additionally, we are working closely with our strategic partners and intend to network with existing organisations to share and continue to raise awareness with our specific messaging around crime prevention, emergency preparedness and wellbeing.
