About the event

Each month Neighbourhood Support New Zealand launches a national campaign where we focus on a theme or topic relevant to the time of year or which ties in with another extensive campaign in the community. The idea behind this is that by having one common mission, our members and supporters can come together at a national-level and focus on a single cause, allowing us to maximise our impact.

How members and supporters take part is completely up to the individual or group! You may want to simply share our posts on social media or organise an event / project that ties in with the theme. These campaigns are not meant to replace the work our organisations already perform, but rather provide another opportunity to raise awareness for important issues and show others what Neighbourhood Support is all about.

It’s Not OK - November 1st to 30th

Creating safer communities means ensuring that no one lives in fear of harm, whether out and about in a neighbourhood or in their own home.

For the month of November, we want to raise awareness and work together to end all forms of violence such as family harm, elder and child abuse, sexual assault, bullying, and more. Anyone can be affected by incidents of violence and abuse and they can have lasting effects that spill into our everyday lives including relationships, work and school.

To do your part this month, you could consider learning more about how to hold a safe discussion if you think someone you know is experiencing family violence, consider supporting a women’s refuge and promoting the ‘It’s Not OK’ message. This month’s campaign also coincides with White Ribbon Day on the 25th of November which is an internationally celebrated day that aims to prevent violence towards women.

Let us know how you’re spreading the ‘It’s Not OK’ message in your home or in your community by tagging us in your posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to:
